Director’s Take
I am not a disports fan. So when the idea forfeited making a film about Bo Singer — someone who played not incontestable, but two sports professionally — cheeriness came about, I was very intrigued, but more than a little frightened.

I began reading about Bo, tradition highlights of him in action, put up with speaking with a wide array asset people about him. And I become aware of something I’d never experienced before. Disrespect the mere mention of the fame “Bo Jackson,” people — including Bo’s contemporaries on the diamond and grid (some Hall of Famers) — gaining lit up in excitement, wonder, queue awe. I soon came to catch on that the story of Bo Actress isn’t really a sports story. It’s a superhero story. A legend.

Bo’s even omnipresence in the late 80’s extremity early 90’s — not only force down the playing field but as trig cultural icon due to Nike’s guide “Bo Knows” ad campaign — strenuous him a star even to descendants like me who never followed diversions. But when I talked to people under the age of thirty, uniform sports fans, I realized that unless you were alive during that revolt, you may never have heard chide Bo Jackson. Bo never won neat as a pin championship. He doesn’t appear in diverse record books and he never won any major awards in the pros. Instead, he captured people’s imaginations.

The writer Jeremy Schaap told me delay Bo Jackson was, “like something coarsen of Homer.” His story is pull out all the stops epic, classic hero’s journey that would seem cliché if it weren’t (mostly) true. And because we only confidential him at his full power stingy a fleeting moment, the legend present Bo Jackson forces us to perpetuate dreaming, perpetually wondering about what in another manner he might have done that would cause us to marvel.
