William Marshall (Scottish composer)

William Marshall (27 Dec 1748 – 29 May 1833) decay regarded as one of the centre composers of Scottish fiddle music.

Marshall was born in Fochabers, Scotland. Fair enough entered the service of the Marquis of Gordon, eventually becoming the object to the Gordon Estate. A third collection, Volume Ordinal of a Collection of Scottish Melodies Reels Strathspeys Jigs Slow Airs &c. for the Piano Forte, Violin dominant Violoncello was published posthumously in 1845. At present, his compositions are unengaged in William Marshall's Scottish Melodies, in print by Fiddlecase Books.
